The Law Office of Camille Mackler is excited to announce the launch of a new blog today: "Immigration in Pictures: A Conversation Through Photography About Immigration in the US Today." The blog will act as an open forum, where anyone can upload their photos and participate in the conversation. The blog can be found at www.immigrationinpictures.com.
The closer we get to the 2012 elections, the more acrimonious the debate becomes on immigration. It seems we are caught in an endless cycle of hateful speeches, broken promises, harsh government policies and rising anti-immigrant hostility. The real tragedy is that in the end, the cost is human. Families are torn apart, dreams are shattered, and lives are ruined as we grow ever more distant from our country’s greatest ideals: that all people are endowed with certain inalienable rights, amongst which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
As an immigration lawyer, I am touched daily by the efforts and sacrifices people are willing to make because they believe in the power of those words. I created this blog because I wanted to show what is at stake when we use the word "immigration". My hope is that, by having a conversation through images, we can finally communicate in a meaningful way and remember what is at stake. I hope you will join me in this experiment by viewing the photos and submitting your own.

Immigration is a very powerful branch of the government. It handles different cases of legality or illegal travels of different people from different places.
